Finding the Perfect Wax Melt for Your Space

Our custom wax blend is made from Rapeseed, Coconut and highly refined mineral wax and is crafted to give you a strong, delightful scent throw for 4-8 hours, followed by a softer aroma for up to 10 hours total. Depending on the room, here’s how you can match scents to spaces:

Airflow Matters

Did you know that the airflow in your room can impact how a wax melt performs? Too much airflow (like near a drafty window) can make the scent fade faster, while stagnant air can reduce the scent's ability to move around the area. Here’s what we recommend:

  • Use your wax melts in spaces with moderate airflow, if you don't want to open a window, try to make sure you have a door open or at least ajar to increase the flow of air between rooms, so for example, if you have a door into your living room, leave it open or ajar into the hall.

  • Place your warmer closer to the middle of the room or an open area for a more even scent throw, but obviously keep out of reach of children/pets.

Say Goodbye to Nose Blindness

Ever noticed you stop smelling a scent after a while? That’s nose blindness—your brain simply tunes out the fragrance as you become more accustomed to it. To keep things fresh:

  • Use your wax melts in 4-hour bursts, which pairs perfectly with standard tealight burn times, then have a break, if you own 2 wax melt warmers, this is perfect because you can easily switch between 2 scents without having to clean out the warmer, if you only have one, wait a few hours between burns. 

  • Change up your scents regularly to keep your nose engaged and your home smelling amazing, try to switch between different scent profiles, for example, you could melt Lemongrass & Ginger in the living room in the morning for that early freshness, and as the evening draws in, switch to something like Cuban Tobacco & Oak

Choosing the Right Warmer

Not all wax melt warmers are created equal, and the one you use can really affect the performance of your melts:

  • Electric Warmers: Great for a consistent, steady scent throw, but they take a little longer to heat up and the throw is generally lower than a Tealight warmer. 

  • Tealight Warmers: Perfect for a strong initial scent throw, especially with paraffin tealights, but after 6-8 hours the scent throw becomes lighter (tealight warmers are used by us)

  • Avoid Oil Burners: These generally burn too hot, which may damage the fragrance oils in your wax melts and produce visible smoke and in some cases can become dangerous.

Temperature is Key

The temperature of your wax warmer makes a big difference:

  • Higher temperatures (like those from paraffin tealights) produce a stronger scent throw but can shorten the wax’s lifespan.

  • Lower temperatures (like soy tealights) give you a longer burn time with a gentler scent.

  • Pro Tip: If you feel the wax is burning too hot and the throw is too strong initially, trim the tealight wick slightly before your first burn to tone down the initial strength if needed, however, some wicks may seem quite long, but when burning are designed to curl over to reduce their length, if you notice the wick of your tealight curls over, the length is probably not the issue, but the distance between the flame and the bottom of the dish, if this is the case, try a different wax warmer that is slightly larger. 

When to Change Your Wax Melt

To keep the fragrance going strong:

  • Swap out your wax melt after two 4-hour burns with a standard tealight.

  • If conditions are just right, you might even stretch the melt for an extra 2 hours of lighter scent throw.

Cleaning Your Warmer

We’ve all been there—leftover wax in the warmer can feel like a hassle. But here’s how to handle it like a pro:

  • Let the wax cool completely, then pop it out with your thumbs or a plastic tool. No sharp objects, please—we don’t want any injuries or scratched/cracked warmers!

  • Alternatively, re-melt the wax slightly with a tealight and soak it up with a cotton ball or kitchen paper.

  • Always clean your warmer away from carpets or tricky-to-clean surfaces in case of spills.
